Marc Hofmann appointed as Chief Information Security Officer

Brussels, 28 October 2016 – Swift announces the appointment of Marc Hofmann as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Hofmann’s appointment reinforces Swift’s IT organisation and ensures continuity to its strong security record and operational excellence.

Hofmann will join Swift on 1 November to lead the Global Security team. Together with Swift’s Security Operations, Hofmann will oversee the development and implementation of Swift’s Cyber Security Roadmap.

Hofmann will report to Chief Technology Officer Craig Young and he will work closely with Alain Desausoi who will serve as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer in the new organisation. Swift’s Security team has more than tripled in size over the past 3 years, and further growth is planned for the coming years.

Craig Young said, “Marc’s IT security experience and his perspective from a Swift user institution are of great value to Swift and our community as a whole. Together with Alain’s nearly 30 years’ experience and impressive track record at Swift, we are able to provide the strongest IT security leadership for our cooperative.”

Hofmann said, “I am excited about the new professional challenge. Thanks to Alain and the great work of his team, Swift’s security credentials are a benchmark in the financial community, and I will focus our efforts on further extending this market leading position.”

Hofmann joins Swift from Deutsche Bank where during the past 8 years he held various CISO roles, most recently as Regional Chief Information Security Officer for the UK and Ireland. At Deutsche Bank, Hofmann oversaw a global IT security team, played a leading role in designing the bank’s information security setup, was Vice Chairman of the Group Information Security Committee and built an effective working relationship with regulators. Hofmann has more than 20 years’ experience in security and risk management. Prior to working at Deutsche Bank, Hofmann held a number of IT security roles, among others at Ernst & Young. Hofmann holds a PhD in economics with a focus on banking regulation, IT and risk management.
