For each of our EMEA events, Swift sponsors a charitable cause within the framework of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. For the Swift Operations Forum Europe in Paris, we are proud to support SOS Children’s Village, Persan.
SOS Children's Villages has been present in France since 1956, when the first SOS Children's Village outside Austria was established in Busigny in Northern France. At present there are 14 SOS Children’s Villages in France.
In addition to offering a loving home in SOS families to children whose parents cannot take care of them, SOS Children’s Villages France has also started a programme for young people who can now live in flats and are guided on their path to an independent life with the help of professionals.
The SOS Children’s Village Persan is situated in the small town of the same name in the department of Val d’Oise of the French region Ile-de-France, about 44 km of Paris. The official inauguration of the most recent SOS project in France took place on October 8, 2011.
The SOS Children's Village Persan consists of ten family houses and one community centre where offices and rooms for different social activities are accommodated. The buildings of the SOS Children's Village are grouped around a spacious central place that is used as a playground by the about 49 children living at the SOS Children's Village.
Since 2012, the SOS Children’s Village has offered children aged from 6 to 16 years a first access to the culture of different regions of the world by involving them in a collective art project. Through this project the children are learning the different aspects of "living together" by respecting the cultural diversity of people. The cultures discussed in 2012-2013 were Guadeloupe and North Africa.
SOS Children’s Villages envisions a world in which every child enjoys a loving home and family. The support of Swift helps make this vision a reality for these children.
